From Elena Stoykovich To My Community.

I am asking you to read this letter prior to your final decision on electing your City Councillor for the next four-year mandate.
On October the 27th we are challenged to make a decision. Will we improve our lives or will we blame others? Or, perhaps, we will just stand aside and wait to see what will happen.

I am asking you to analyze your daily life over the past four years. I think you would agree with me that our overall living standards did not improve. Our taxes have significantly increased, the cost of public transportation has increased, our hydro cost has increased, gridlock has become a nightmare, the budget for emergency services has been reduced, garbage pick-up services are now bi-weekly, and worst of all: we do not even have a vision of solving all of the above problems in the foreseeable future.

I am asking you again – will we improve our lives? It’s up to us. If we don’t make changes, we cannot expect changes. It is as simple as that.

If you decide to keep the same people on your City Council— or just watch what happens from the sidelines— then your dreams will continue to be your dreams only.

If you decide to keep everything as is, you will continue to have everything as is; your taxes will continue to increase, living costs will continue to increase, you will work longer and harder to gain less. Do something for yourself. Make a change. Take a risk. You have nothing to lose.

I am asking you for your vote. I think you understand that I cannot destroy the City but I may make improvements. I have very interesting and creative solutions to offer to our City Council, and I am very confident that the Council will love my solutions.

I am asking for your vote because I deeply and sincerely want to improve the quality of our lives. I have significant professional and personal experience, an excellent personality, and lots of energy, but most importantly I am extremely passionate about the job ahead, I know how to do it, and I am not afraid of this responsibility. I am not coming “to figure out how”, I already know “how”. I am the best of all candidates. Use this opportunity to give me a chance. Move forward. Change in itself is already a way of moving forward. Let’s do it together.
